On the rise as one of the most sought after species in North America, the Woodland Caribou is an amazing animal. Currently, Newfoundland is the only place in the world where you can hunt this subspecies of Caribou. On these hunts, you will typically see a good number of caribou with a couple true trophy stags. This outfit has produced many animals in the Pope & Young and Boone & Crockett record books.
Most hunts happen in October, when the caribou start to rut. They are typically in some fairly open country and easy to see. Calling and decoying is a tried and true method to get dominate stags into range.
The outfitters camp is only accessible by helicopter. You will fly from Deer Lake (or a nearby town) into camp, where you will be met by the outfitter, guides, and camp cook. Most of the stag hunts happen right from this camp. The camp is situated overlooking a picturesque lake with separate cabins for the hunters to sleep. There is also a cook cabin with a dining, living room, kitchen, and bathroom with running water. It doesn't get a whole lot better than this for a completely remote fly-in camp.
